I can’t help but marvel at the recent political posturing that has occured on the international stage. Just to list a few off the top of my head:
- North Korea’s successful nuclear test yesterday
- South Korean Ban-Ki-moon to serve as Secretary General of UN
- Putin quietly consolidating power in Russia
- Thai’s recent blood-less coup
- US GOP Implosion over Mark Foley email scandal
Interestingly, all the political maunvering taken holistically presents a remarkable parallel to the fictional Earth in Ender’s Game. In the fictional Earth of Ender’s Series, an uneasy world peace quickly descends into chaos as ambitious, and more importantly, self-righteous nations each staked out their moves for historical greatness. It is remarkable to see not only similar events, but also similar rationals and justifications now transpiring throughout the world.
In the end of Ender’s Game, it was only through the political machination of one young Peter Wiggin (a pioneer of blogging might I add) that the world was saved. Where is our Peter Wiggin now?
